  • Up Dev!

  • May de valera burn in hell with his mate Hitler. He let them Roman Catholics run amok in this country destroying minds. De Valera was the biggest disaster in the history of the state.

  • he was a gobshite

  • Thank you jwood36 for your reply and sound advice. Have a good christmas and a prosperous 2012.

  • @gmatthews737 It's the Irish way my friend we like to keep people on their toes, it all adds to Irish mysticism. Joking aside I'd heartily recommend reading Irish Freedom (The History of Irish Nationalism) by Richard English. Don't let the subtitle misguide you it gives a very balanced view of Irish history from the 1100's when the English arrived up to the current day. Irish history can be a daunting subject (to the Irish as well) but once you grasp the basics it gets much easier, hope you enjoy

  • I have to admit that I am not an historian and when I read about events from Irelands past I seem to get several peoples views which are quite often conflicting depending on whatever political persuasion they happen to be. Where do you look for the definitive truth, or is the truth merely a myth in man's imagination? what is truth, because most people come up with conspiracy theories! All I seek is the truth, is that too much to ask?

  • @gespb32: Oh men die in war.. is that your excuse? He was a prick and is remembered as such, hell even his own mother didn't want to have anything to do with him. !!

  • @celticlofts Your an idiot as well as a scumbag, Dev did not hide behind his American passport, the British did not want to execute an American citizen, the Custom House event? men die in war, dont get your historical info from that Michael Collins film, Also you may also care to know F.G. & Labour all pushed for a 2nd vote.

Piss on his grave, yeah thats about all you could do in your pathetic life to an Irish Hero.

Why dont you join the Orange Order? oh wait, your probably already are in it.

  • @gespb32: Mock him? I have nothing but contempt for that piece of shit. He cared nothing for lives of other Irishmen but hid behind his American Citizenship to avoid a firing squad. He sent men to their deaths in the Customs house and then ignored the will of the people of Ireland when it came to the treaty..but again fianna fail never paid much attention to the will of the people as the Lisbon treaty would prove. Next time I'm in Dublin I'm going to take a piss of the bastards grave.

  • What a load of bollocks, Dev was a self important prick who stole money that was intended for the Irish people but instead he used it to set up his family newspaper the Irish press. One has to remember he was a Fianna Fail man and theft has always been part of their culture.
