A bow is not a sign of respect in Asian or Middle Eastern cultures. It is a sign of submission. The subservient person bows lower than the dominant person. In this case, the President of the United States was acting like a subservient to the Saudi King. If it is simply a sign of respect as you claim, why didn't the king bow to Obama?

I can't believe people get out of shape when President Obama shows respect and knowledge for one's culture. It is well known fact in the Orient that a bow is something normal among each other - it is a sign of respect. Enough of the cowboy attitude that our past presidents (Bush!) have shown! How about be more humble and show the world that we have finally chosen an intelligent President that can bring peace and common interests together.
I'm so tired of the GOP propaganda and shame on CNN!
