It was fitted with an 8.4v 4300mah NIMH battery.

Yup. Theres a direct relationship between runtime and the mah rating of the battery. Higher quality batteries also tend to deliver more current so you'll get a higher top speed/acceleration.

Short version:
Car came with brushless, but you cant buy this version now.
I upgraded the battery from 7.2v to 8.4v.
That's it really. Also the axles tend to break with the extra power. You get what you pay for :)

Havent measured it but i reckon it goes at least 30mph. It's geared for quite a lot of accelleration though so with different gearing it could easily reach 40mph+ i reckon.
