Elevator to the Gallows (1957). Directed by Louis Malle starring Jeanne Moreau and Maurice Ronet as desperate lovers plotting murder. Stylish new wave French cinema. This scene is one of the most memorable of any film, as the bewitchingly beautiful Jeanne Moreau walks the night streets of Paris in search of her missing lover to an improvisational score composed by American jazz legend Miles Davis.

  • One of the greatest depictions of forlornness...man, Miles Davis could blow.

  • I could feel my heart dropping... I really felt for Ms. Moreau.
