born in 66, the first movie i went to see on my own, when it first came out. dont know why, but the movie and this tune has stayed with me. this still, after all these years still has the power to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, BIG TIME

Been on the rock several times and it is an errie supernatural place with many holes and crevices, and I have fallen down afew, pretty weird feeling even though I know it was just a movie, but they couldn't get the location and theme more right

@Maximianus1977 those doina are traditional romanians . so this is not by gheorghe zamfir but he is the best interpret . the name of this doina is "doina up on the top of the hill" and is in my opinion the best of all .the fillings that are called up by such songs are violent strong and very instinctive for modern humankind quite unusual .as i sad they wrote books about it .and i mean that ironically .no book can tell you what do you feel as you are hearing at your hidden inside.

@Maximianus1977 you got it quite good about the feeling . doina is a type of song that has two parts that repeat many times . the first one is like a question and of course is the second one the answer . and is a pastoral song . an ancient one . imagine a pastor with his herd alone in the heart of the wild mountains . he´s talking to the nature and singing to his animals all he´s sorrows and fears and happiness . this can happen only with maximum sincerity to him self ...
