On 4rth November 2010, India's indgenously developed Turbofan engine, GTX-35VS Kaveri, successfully powered its first aircraft to flight -- a Russian IL-76 test-bed aircraft, in which one of its 4 engines was removed and replaced by the Kaveri.

Subsequently it underwent many more flight trials in Russia and is expected to be ready to power India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft [AMCA] & later batches of the the Mk2 version of Light Combat Aircraft, Tejas
