Seems like y'all consider this a great Country song by JLL. I don't disagree, but it feels like gospel to me. Whichever, it is especially good.

This song was recorded Oct,5,1970. It was never released on any of Jerry Lee's albums, It's only available on the Bear Family Box set, " Mercury Smashes ... And Rockin' Sessions". Fantastic, Gotta Love the Killer. His "Mercury - Smash" Years are his Greatest Recordings. (1963 - 1978)

Jerry Lee, love you!

Jerry Lee Lewis is old school. If this rendition was a sentiment to someone who raised him this is the way he recognized and loved her. Since during his day any relation with a black woman no matter her role would have killed his career this truly had to be someone he loved and who loved him. I don't see why anyone would call this a disgrace someone took him in raised him even at her own peril/danger in those days and did the best she could.

@littletwonk I agree with you. There is no 2 doubs he sure can sing. This is the 1st time that I have heard this song and to me it is fantastic.

I am sure this song was never released officially in the States.
It was considered too racially sensitive at the time but I understand
it was a big hit in Europe. Even today it is only available on import
box sets from Bear Family Records (Germany).
I was lucky to get it on a HQ bootleg
