  • @shoden Oracle VM supports running Linux, Windows and Solaris as guest operating systems. Linux is the best option, as it uses a para-virtualized kernel (faster and more flexible). Also consider that all of our templates (for database, middleware and applications) is based on a Linux OS.

Windows guests work fine, but they require installation of guest tools in order to get top performance.

Ultimately, we want to support the environment that you are comfortable with and performs the best.

  • Thank you so much mate for your nice tutorial that helped me configure my test environment at work ^_^

I'm working currently on running Sun Solaris on Oracle VM as Oracle claimed that we can run Solaris on X86 systems with Oracle 11g installed on it without any problems.

Do you think it's good to run Oracle on visualized Linux on OracleVM and other OS(Windows7, Windows 2008 Server, ..etc) as well? It'll be good to have good review if you're into this.
