This step by step video tutorial will show you how to update your iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 while preserving the baseband. Because we will not update the baseband, you will still be able to run the latest iOS version available, you will be able to jailbreak using LimeRa1n or GreenPois0n, and you will be able to unlock your iPhone using UltraSn0w.

NOTE: This is for iPhone 4 only!

This method works for both Windows and Mac. It is pretty simple but it does require you to read the steps carefully. As usual when hacking your iPhone, you are proceeding at your own risks!
===================================================================

1. Get the latest TinyUmbrella (4.1.3)
2. Run TinyUmbrella.
3. Start TSS Server
4. Open iTunes
5. Download firmware iOS 4.1 and use iTunes Restore (NOT UPDATE) to update to iOS 4.1
6. Let iTunes error with 1004 error (baseband update failed -- we want this :) )
7. Kick Device Out of Recovery
8. That's it You are now on 4.1 with 1.59.00 baseband!

  • I tried saving my SHSH blobs and got this error.

    ***** CYDIA DOES NOT HAVE YOUR SHSH FOR iPhone4 4.0.1 (8A306) THERE IS NO WAY FOR YOU TO GET THEM. SORRY. YOU ARE JUST TOO LATE. *****

    I have an iphone 4 on 4.0.2 and I want to upgrade to 4.1. Should I just go on with the steps in the video or will I not be able to upgrade to 4.1 and keep my 01.59.00 baseband?

  • @blackberryking13 I'm not sure mate.. I don't have a iPhone 4.

    Why don't yo upgrade to iOS 4.2.1? You've got a iPhone 4, it's fast enough for that firmware! I'm running iOS 4.2.1 on my iPhone 3G.

  • NOTE:

    THIS TUTORIALS WORKS ONLY FOR THE iPhone 4 !!!!
