Pilates abs for post natal moms who had abdominal separation. Pilates is a great way to mend any abdominal separation from pregnancy. Pregnancy can separate the abs and you must go slow when trying to repair them. Work out your abs after having your baby slowly and consistently with pilates and they will begin to repair.

  • Thank you for this- it is excellent. I had twins and was told that ab separation was permanent. Then someone said that you have to work your small internal muscles first, but no one was able to tell me where to start.

  • glad you found it! yep, gotta work those little guys first! and make sure not to let your upper abs "pop" up. very important :) good luck, erin

  • I am three months post-partum with my third baby. I have a four finger length abdominal separation right now. Do you think this is too severe of a separation for this to work? Or should I give it a try?

  • what has your doctor recommended? make sure you get the okay from them first... if they say pilates is okay then go for it!

  • Erin, can you please tell me how often to do these excercises? every day? every other day? also, if you do them with regularity, typically when would you start to notice results? thanks!

  • hi hon, honestly, you can do them as often as you like. it's a short video, so once a day, 5x a week would be my rec. when most people do pilates they tend to see some results in a week or so. but those folks are usually doing full length workouts. use this video as a compliment to a variety of workouts!

  • Hi! Have you thought about - fast abs magic (search on google)? Ive heard some decent things about it and my work buddy got amazing 6 pack abs and lost tons of fat with it.

  • thank you so much for the exercises

  • @lkarden I :-) !I had the same problem too(but i had just 1 big baby!) All said to me that the only way was the operation...so I ask:Did u saw same positive changes on your diastasis with this kind of exercises???

Sorry If I wrote something wrong but I'm Italian!

  • I've started to do these exersizes and I was wondering what else I could combine them with to help with toning and weight loss, but not worsen my diastasis recti. My youngest baby is 6 months old and I've been working out for 4 months, but until recently I was doing almost everything incorrectly. Any ideas on what I could to do replace the yoga and basic strength training I was doing?

Any advice would be great, Thanks :)

  • Hey, just wondered how u know if ur doin them properly, I cant tell if i am or not..

  • Thank you so much for this!! I just had my 2nd son 4 months ago and I didn't want to have to buy the book to close the abdominal seperation. This helps out so much, I'm going to try this. Thanks again!

  • Thanks for this video, I just gave birth 3wks ago and I just found out that I do have abdominal seperation. I am looking forward to starting these exercises to get me going in the right direction. I always did pilates pregnancy and wasn't sure how to get back into it safely. Any other video posts or exercises would be most welcome. Thanks!

  • I liked everything up until the crunches. I was told never to them by several doctors and two trainers. But that maybe have been because i carried twins. so my separation was horrendous.

  • thank you!! I have always exercised & had a baby 5 months ago & have gotten all my body back except my abs--I am looking forward to starting this! I hope it helps!
