The 3rd and final movement of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 4, which, oddly enough, has the same tempo indication as the 1st movement (Allegro vivace) but the 2 movements are very different:) Anyway, please enjoy and feel free to comment and rate as you desire.

  • This movement, out of all the Concerti of Rachmaninov, has the deepest and most profound emotions.

And what a masterpiece it is when it is played in the hands of the master himself.

  • Rachmaninoff's 4th -- my all-time favorite piano concerto.

  • Terrific!

  • I thought Prokoffiev 3rd was the only one of this kind....but here is another coolest concerto that pianist can sink their teeth into.

  • This was recorded with the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Eugene Ormandy, in the Academy of Music. Rachmaninoff also said the Philadelphia Orchestra was his favorite orchestra, so he recorded his four piano concertos and the "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" with them. He also conducted the Philadelphians in "Isle of the Dead," "Vocalise," and his third symphony, all for RCA Victor.

  • what a pleasure to hear Rach play his own works!! we all miss listening to chopin playing himself and beethoven playing himself!!

  • @MCarey0608 Exactly what I think!! :)

  • I've always like Rachmaninoff's finales, Absolutely fantastic playing by the master

  • Rachmaninoff...master of masters! goose bumps in the solo part at 2:50

  • I agree. It definitely is the most emotionally charged of the three. The melodies and haunting tones are just phenomenal.
