@flybaby00100 its an arioso actually, which is halfway between a recitative and an aria
-
@flybaby00100 It's a Recitative
-
@flybaby00100 aria
recitative is more so the dialogue of opera, in the sense it's singing but only used to really explain the story while aria is the really emotional parts of the story
-
does anybody know this song is 'recitative' or 'aria'?
-
despite the fact that I am forced to learn this for my music class it's a pretty song.

@kennykiller911 no hes not castraties havnt been around for while. and castraties can not sing that low. castraties sound like girls most of the time but since there are girls allowed in opera now the use for them is limited to none
-
@kennykiller911 why do you think so?? his voice isn't the highest.
-
i bet that guy is a castrato. im so mature.

Good point Jet. Renaissance, Baroque and Classical painters did the same thing. Biblical scenes were done in contemporary dress most all the time. Roman soldiers wore 17th century armor. Caiaphas looked like a Dutch merchant. If you really want to be authentic, use the out of tune instrumentals of the time and see how you like it.. These masterpieces got better with the development of the tempered scale and more in tune instruments. Baroque orchestras would sound out of tune to us.

listening to this for my Musical Arts class... so emotional, very moving!
You are dead, you are dead, my dearest
And i breathe; you have left me, You have left me forevermore,
Never to return, and i remain--
No, no, if my verses have any power,
I will go confidently to the deepest abysses,
And, having melted the heart of the kings of shadows,
Will bring you back to me to see the stars again,
Or, if pitiless fate denies me this,
I will remain with you in the company of death.
Farewell earth, farewell sky, and sun, farewell.
