  • @gillyguthrie,

Very interesting comment but I would disagree with most of what you said. Sentence #1 seems a stretch. There is an objective standard by which art is judged. The line may become murky where artists of comparable talent are concerned and subjective influences may bias a person's perspective but Michelangelo compared to my Uncle Sal is no contest.Although I think Bernie was using hyperbole to make his point I would like elaboration as to your final statement; it's your "best" point.

  • Had to listen to this twice and still can't get enough the entire band should be credited as well, I Found the collective of the musician's bring a feeling as a whole that my ears are pleased with and grateful for. Thank you bluesinorbit for the post!

  • I believe Art's contribution is Important and to praise his talent, expression and place in any respect is well deserved. I would consider Tatum as one of the greatest stride pianist to have lived in his time.

  • @BernieDegnan I agree with you!!!!! Art Tatum was the best, Hands Down.

  • @BernieDegnan I think this attitude actually discourages many people from learning instruments and/or sticking with them. There is no such thing as "good art" or "bad art," just as there isn't such a thing as the "best pianist" or "best guitarist." Art may be your favorite, but you cannot possibly qualify your statement that he's the best pianist ever in nonsubjective terms. It's petty and simple-minded to glorify a single musican when humanity as a whole contributed to it

  • Thank you very much ! See my list PIANO, please !

  • He is the best to ever touch a piano. Out of any piano player who ever lived. Hands down.

  • This is the music that God listens to..

  • Simply loved it! I had listened to Art Tatum a loong time ago and had completely forgotten about him. How could I ever do that? This is magnificent!

    Thanks for posting it here!
