Before there was a Motown, The Miracles released singles on Chess and End records, I Need some Money was released as the b-side to "I Cry" on End records in 1958, it features Smokey and Claudette on lead vocals, it was suggested the Smokey and Claudette try a Mickey & Sylvia format because some saw The Miracles as a warmed over Platters

Smokey stated in an interview he always saw the Miracles becoming another Platters, yet he seemed to pick up more influence from Nolan Strong, lead of the Diablos.
