The world has often heard cries from IRA and Sinn Fein terrorists about so-called collusion between the British government and Loyalist paramilitaries.

What is less talked about is the widespread collusion between members of the Gardai (Irish police force) and the uppermost echelons of the Republic of Ireland's government.

Throughout Northern Ireland's 'Troubles' - when IRA death squads roamed protestant areas killing civilians and children - the Irish government provided weapons, finance, intelligence, freedom from prosecution and safehavens to Irish terrorists.

One clear cut example of this was on 27th April 1987. Highly respected judge Maurice Gibson and his wife Cecily were murdered by the IRA in a landmine attack on the Irish border.

The only people who knew they were going to be there at that time were members of the Irish police force - yet the IRA had enough warning to plant a huge landmine to kill them as they drove past.

The only way the IRA could have known the couple would be traveling there at that time is if the information was passed over from a senior member of the Gardai.

Why has this never been investigated by the Irish authorities???

  • @ado75 When we stop hearing about the Bloody Sunday riot, Pat Finucane, Rosemary Nelson, Ballymurphy eleven, etc then Unionists won't feel the need to remind the world of the IRA's atrocities.

  • Of course I know of the massacres. But why keep going back. Do you hate the French for landing in Mayo? Do we continue to hate the Germans and the Japanese for previous crimes.? Do we stop playing Argentina because of the Falklands? The point is we have been at each others throats for long enough on this Island. I absolutely acknowledge your right be here, migrations of different ethnic groups are a fact of life across the globe. We need to move on.

  • @ado75 You know there was sectarianism before partition??? Ever hear of 1641??

  • We need to move on from this stuff otherwise the violence is self perpetuating. Terrible things were done by both sides. As for your no surrender tag - who's invading? The reality is partition has created a red neck bigot farm that nobody wants.
