The 33 Chilean miners who have been trapped underground for a full month will have to deal with their confinement for weeks, or perhaps months, until they can be rescued. The strain also has shaken the fault lines in their families above. (Sept. 5)

@chairde Absolutely true. This has become a reality show. Seem like the (Chilean) media is paid for every tear or crying face shown on screen. Why don't they talk about the folks underground, pushed to drink contaminated water from oil drums to survive?, or the 1st rescuer reporting that stones started to fall during rescue, cutting off the fiber that carried the video stream, and the folks upground thinking 'holy sh*t, were losing them all now'.

Maybe the news media should not report the details of the miners lives. Let them have the dignity that they deserve. Why is everything turned into a soap opera?

These miners get paid 1600 dollars a month....and Republicans want to repeal the minimum wage. Anyone who votes Republican is supporting repealing the minimum wage, case in point the Tea Party Candidate in Alaska. He is adamant about removing minimum wage, even the Chair of the RNC wants to remove minimum wage. Maybe we should let Republicans repeal minimum wage, I'm a small business owner, I can then hire people for 4 dollars an hour. Damn wait that sounds great. Nvm vote Republican :-)
