Whew, you boys have more courage than I do, being next to a 100 foot propeller at 200 feet in the air. Makes my stomach turn to see it on a screen, and can't imagine being there, for real. I can't hardly make it up an 8 foot step-ladder without getting shaky legs. LOL

That is a lightning rod that protects the wind sensing equipment. This turbine has a sonic anemometer so it only needs to use one mounting location which is to the left of the lightning rod shown at 2:20. A sonic anemometer measures speed and direction. Analog sensors would require 2 sensors a analog anemometer and a wind vane, and would fill both spots. At 2:30 you can see the sonic sensor.

It's an Anemometer, used for measuring wind speed.
