  • Eric,

Is it possible to ballast fastback in anyway shape or form to make it look more realistic, if so what type of ballast would you recommend? Also, how do you control your switches....are atlas o switches capable of being operated wirelessly like Lionel's new command control switches? or do you have them connected to an AIU or Lionel's SC-2? When I have a permanent layout I plan on converting to Atlas O, it rides quiet, more authentic, and clearly superior!!

  • @SirSebaztian I've never seen anyone ballast fastrack myself, but I'm sure it's been done. I have seen people darken it down with paints and so forth to make it look a little more realistic. I think there was an article in OGR magazine about it a while back, so check there. I use an AIU to control my switches.

  • about how far (feet of track) can you get per 5 lb bag of ballast. YOu know of any cheaper options?

  • @SilverLakeRailroad I've never measured it, but you can get pretty far. You can get cheaper ballast at other places but it doesn't look as good as Brennan's.

  • @SilverLakeRailroad i don't know, maybe 8 feet per bag.

  • What kind of rails do you use? It can't be the "Fleischmann model rails."

  • @KLMAirSwan I use Atlas O track.
