Historical parades from Portsmouth, Ohio, including the Sesquicentennial Parade and several River Days Parade. Included is footage of James Drury as The Virginian, Roger Smith, and Smiley Burnette from Petticoat Junction. Smith had a TV show back in those days but was best known as being married to Ann Margaret.

  • Thank you for posting this video, with a brief but wonderful clip of Smiley Burnette. Smiley, who made over 150 feature films, was voted one of the Top Ten moneymaking attractions in western movies in the 1940s, as well as one of the top 100 actors in all Hollywood films. He composed more than 300 songs, several of which are considered country music standards. There are still several cds of his recordings in print. The footage was evidently made soon after his cataract surgery in December 1965.

  • Amazing times, thank you so much!!!

  • Don't ever remember balloon's in any of the parades I watched in Portsmouth. I do remember Jerry Van Dyke being in one of the parades. I was around 12, so it was in 1972. Thanks for the memories!!! Love it!
