That phrase is just a translation of a Chinese idiom. I've never seen such saying.

I went to Argyle in North Vancouver with Godffrey. He's a quiet guy who doesn't talk a lot but is really good at basketball. How can he not know A BAD PENNY ALWAYS COMES BACK??!?!??!? Who the hell ever says a bad karma always comes back? Damn son. I'm ashamed.

Not really. The idiom is about how bad things or people keep coming back at a bad time. The Chinese explanation got it all wrong, so if he's also good at Chinese, the only word coming up for that explanation is "karma". Before you judge, check the dictionary guys. Moreover, google it, and you'll only find 32,200 results; it's not a popular idiom everyone should know. "A bad penny always turns up" is more popular instead, meaning almost the same thing.
