Most of the text is in the video, but here is a repost of my bleery-eyed 2 AM OS report:
D&H 416 the South Bronx eXpress was through Harmon Station moments after the midnight local departed. They probably paced the local down to CP12. Consist was 5671+5672 with 25 wagons as advertised. [I DID NOT GET VIDEO OF THIS TRAIN].
CSX only ran one train each way [last night]. The southbound "L431" came through Peekskill at about 00:10 seconds after I arrived and got in position. He had SIX engines and about 80 cars.
The northbound "Q430" had four engines and 16 trash cars. A nice short fast little train - except that he did have to stop at Croton to pick up the fire damaged M7A sh~tboxes 4048/4049 to send back to Bombardier for warranty repairs. This was a quick hind end pick up but the trains still swapped at Cortlandt.
So by the time he went by me in Peekskill at 00:24 the consist was 4 engines, 16 trash cars, a box car, two more trash cans, and another boxcar bringing up the markers. The Mets RTC was generous, and gave him the shot AHEAD of Amtrak 261 through the single tracking 46-53.
I stayed for Amtrak 261 who was only moments away, and closing fast....
Then I jumped back down to Scarborough and caught L431 again after he made his set out and pick up at the west yard at about 01:30.

Thats alot of horsepower the whole consist has, probably about 15,000HP with with 6 SD40-2's.

@Zillion43
The first train in the video only had 3 SD40-2s. The 4th-6th engines are GP38-2s.
The SD40-2s are rated at 3,000hp.
The GP38-2s are rated at 2,000hp.
This train therefore is carrying 13,000hp, but only the 3 8800s are online in this video, so there were really only 9,000hp pulling the L431.

Nice powerups u caught, that's a long train.

@Zillion43
Powerups???? Umm....these are trains not video games. No Zelda here, and Link is a track in the Bronx, not a queer little green guy.

I'm surprised they allowed freight traffic to go along the tracks with high platforms. It's a different case here in the DMV (DC-MD-VA).

yeah - well the big reason it happens so much less down there is the freight roads own the ROWs..... Watch VRE in the next 15 years - if VDOT gets their way and buys the RF&P from AF to Richmond they'll start slappin up high's wherever they can.... I mean MN doesn't "want" to run these freights - they don't get that choice.
