An English instructional film looking at all aspects of breast feeding. Antenatal welfare and preparation is advised - the importance of good diet (sample meals are shown by a midwife) and the clinical examination of the breasts are encouraged. Postnatal management begins in hospital with the establishment of lactation during the 'Lying In' period; the importance of hygiene around the nipple is encouraged. Shots then include the mother and baby at home - we see the preparation of the cot, nappy changing, the use of the potty and the correct way to breast feed. The double breast feeding of twins is also shown. 3 parts. Find out more: https://catalogue.wellcome.ac.uk/record=b1672622~S3
@latinelove20 Feeding twins at the same time is still recommended. If you can manage it, it helps to save time and energy especially if there is not always someone else to hold the other baby for you. It also helps keep track of how much each kid is eating, you may feed 15 times in a day and feel like your kids are well fed when in reality one is not eating much at all. Most of this stuff isn't completely crazy, cleaning before each feeding was essential as most people didn't shower everyday.

I'm amazed bare breasts were actually shown in a 1930s film, medical or not.

My mother tried to get me to feed my son on a schedule set by the clock instead of when he was ready. It felt so unnatural. And she expected me to leave him to cry because it wasn't time according to the clock.
Great video, makes me appreciate how easy I had it when my son was born (1998)!

Hi latin, as a mother of breastfed twins, it was not at all uncomfy to breastfeed them at the same time, it was actually easier and time essential. As they got older, tandem feeding, as it is called, faded because they were pro feeders and can get full in 5 minutes.

wow.... cleaning and drying b4 and after breast feeding... and drinking a glass of water while breast feeding... say a baby feeds12 times in 24 hrs... thats a whole lot of glasses of water. that is dumb. the mother just has to hydrate during the day. not at every feeding. and if you have twins you feed them at the same time? how uncomfortable is that? one at a time. one to each breast. geezzee people in those days were something else
