This is exactly what David is like every day. My lover was his chef and I had the spectacular honor of serving him lunch and dinner every single day for years.
Never once did he fail to say "Thank you, Love" every time I brought him something. A more wonderful celebrity, I have never met! ...and at David's house, I met them all. (David's very close friend, Vincent Price, was the only other celebrity as spectacular as David in kindness and charm.) Completely unpretentious.

an artist of some ability who has produced much work that is either bland or decidedly art school.....time he retired methinks....very overrated!!!!

The man he just don't give a shit. Ace. He says the world is too dreary nowadays. So he don't give a dam. What beauty. The world need people like Mr Hockney. He makes my world a better place ; > )
