Wagner would surely have used this as an operatic set .. the drama of discovery unfolds at the European Synchrotron Research Facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Electrons accelerate close to the speed of light, shedding intense X-rays that illuminate Nature. Scientists make their way around the lab by bicycle. Here is my cycle ride around the synchrotron ring.

Been there, done that 1996-2002 while working at TS ALGE. Oh the blessed coffee machines in nightshifts. I like this music BTW. ID27 was one of the beamlines I was in charge with.
