I'm neither light nor dark, but I find it kind of irritating that people ask lighter folk, "where are you from?" and then aren't satisfied with the answer lol. Why don't they ask what they REALLY want to know? "WHY ARE YOU LIGHT, BLACK GIRL?" or "WHAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT HAIR TEXTURE??" lol. The reason they don't ask those questions is because they know its rude as hell. Yet the need to pick apart a person's origins seems to be super strong in the black community for whatever reason. SMH

omg it really pisses me off when ppl come up to me and ask if im biracial, puerto rican, etc. I AM 100 PERCENT BLACK! Just because my hair is long and full doesn't mean i haveto be mixed with any other race. And it's mostly black ppl. smh...slave mentality...

I think for the most part people ask questions out of pure curiousity. My mother is dark skin and Haitian. My father was Italian and Native American. I never lived my life wearing my heritage, nationality, or race on my sleeve. Is it really that serious? If someone asks me what I am mixed with I simply answer their question. My ex is half chinese half black and people ask me what my son is mixed with all the time too. And again, I simply answer the question. Its not a rivalry.

Security speaks volumes. Have such a presence that the people around you don't even consider your looks. They should be captivated by your intelligence and confidence. Who cares how you look. What you have to offer of substance is what's relevant.

Being a black woman, starting to think that some are crazy. Obssessed with hair types, being black enough etc etc etc. Bored stiff, there are deeper issues affecting the world and if we do not get right, the hair type will not matter. Fed up from the United Kingdom.

I understand some of what she is saying. I've been told I have "good hair" so I must be mixed with something other than just black. My hair is mostly in the 4a/4b range. I find it strange that all these "good hair" comments come from black women. I've been teased & complimented on my "good hair" my whole life. I won't even get into the skin tone issue. I just think ppl need to learn how best to care for their hair no matter the texture. With practice & technique, we can all have "Good Hair" :)
You are so correct I love your videos so you keep being you. My daughter is light and has a looser curl, when she was younger people always thought she was Puerto Rican. People just have been miseducated and under exposed to basic and much needed knowledge. Love has to pervail and NikkiiDior we love you. And I love you SumKindaWndrful for speaking the truth.

@najmaj this is to the comment posted below. Are you familiar with the one-drop rule? "Most people" who identify as simply black are not only those with two black parents. Many people who are biracial identify as plainly black and it is their choice to do so. This is not new either. Historically in America, if you had one black parent or grandparent, you were BLACK. Period. And you were treated as such. This still remains true today. Ria can identify however she chooses. U don't have to get it.
