Life List #88: Get a STAGEA Electone

On 4th July 2009, my Yamaha STAGEA Mini finally arrived at my doorstep. It was one of the happiest moment of my life even though my bank account dipped dangerously low (cost me SGD$2,800). With no piano background and no scores, i learn to play the electone by ear and by watching Youtube videos. I didn't want to attend any lessons as i think i can learn better by myself by playing my favorite tunes and at my own pace.

Every night, i try to practice 1-2 hours before i sleep. I experiment with the different instrument sounds and effects and began to search for a suitable song for my 1st electone piece. After two weeks, i have finally found the perfect song, Final Fantasy XII Prelude.

With help from watching Maru (http://tinyurl.com/6zqg2n) and figuring out the instruments by listening to the song countless times on my mp3 player everyday on the way to work, I was finally able to play the full piece after 2 months.

  • What are the notes you're playing with your feet? I can't seem to find scores with those notes ANYWHERE.

  • @Omnislash89 Hi Omnislash89! I was playing by ear and not from scores! There's some mistakes in my pedaling though.

  • Actually the progression on Ab (root) is actually Ab C Eb G -> Ab. Try that out, it'll match it better :)

But great playing, especially with the foot pedals, keep it up!

  • thank you for the tip! i love foot pedaling, it's really fun!

  • Nice :D

  • Loved it!!

  • Sounds Dreamy, just like Final Fantasy.

  • @Omnislash89

the pedalboard (if i can call it like that) have exactly the same pattern as a normal keyboard (long ones are the white keys and the short ones are the black ones). Now just consider them the bass notes.

And finally think that on this situation you'll most likely play the root note of each chord (arpegio) with your feet.

So if the arpegio sequence is: C - Am - F - G, on the foot pedal you'll play the bass notes that i mentioned.

  • That is very very good actually.. great ear you have! lol :).. and I'm quite fascinated you used your right foot instead of both feet or just the left foot... isn't it easier with the left foot? unless you were contolling the effect pedal? :D

  • Wow

  • wow, that pedal on ur feet. It seems so complicated to use :o I play the piano and using the sustain alone is already a hassle >_> what more for that :i

  • なるほど,前半は足でストリングスを弾いているんですな.

    私もminiなんですが,ここまでやれるんだと思うと嬉しくなります.

  • I love this organ and wish I could find it in the states. Great sounds and great playing.

  • This is amazing! love it
