Coach Jim Valvano and the "Cardiac Kids" celebrate one of the largest upsets in tournament history. Houston's "Phi Slamma Jamma" was led by Akeem Olajuwon, who won the Most Outstanding Player in spite of the loss.

No one thought they would win their conference tournament, they were the little sister of Tobacco Road compared to Duke and UNC, but 1983, it was Jimmy V who told his players to never give up, even when the odds were against them, i was 8 when i saw this, and it was an awesome, as i read more Jimmy V, i was fortunate to see his speech on the Espy awards, Jimmy V and the 83' N.C. State Wolfpack will be immortalized as the champions of one of the greatest NCAA finals ever.
