To sum it up in their respective costumes; for instance, Batman wears a Kevlar suit and Iron Man wears a powered amour like in the Robert A. Heinlein classic Starship Troopers(the novel, not the movie).

@blowshimselfupdude Go back to my first comment. I never said that Ironman is a rip-off of Batman. What I said was " Although, I would say Ironman is not a direct rip-off of Batman, you can not deny the similarities." When I see similarities to comic characters, it comes off as a little lazy. Super strength is the most overused superpower. It doesn't mean they ripped-off Superman. But, I would just like to see more originality in comics.

Batman has genre based super powers, though if you don't play pencil and paper RPGs it isn't as obvious. It does vary across representations, but there are a few:
Batman has super wealth, a "real" super power. He is required to be far too lucky (the classic "Why isn't he dead yet" dilemma". He tends to almost magically have the materials he needs on hand (referred to as gizmos in one RPG, GURPS), and he often has technology better than the norm.

BATMAN is the WORLDS GREATEST DETECTIVE. thats the difference. Ironman is not a detective.

Even the personalities of Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark are different. I really don't understand how people say Iron Man is a rip off of Batman. That is ridiculous.
Bruce Wayne has these serious morals to not kill people which supports his motivation for being Batman and he only lets the court deal with the criminals after he defeats them. Batman hates being a playboy. Iron Man likes being a playboy. Iron Man kills the criminals that he fights against sometimes. Iron Man is funny in dangeroustimes

What the fuck are people thinking?
Let me explain it to you Batman is a guy with no superpowers but has the ability to use martial arts and the gadgets on his suit and is even called the Worlds Greatest Dectective. Iron Man is a guy in a suit that is highly advanced which gives him the ability to fly, cool weapons , and protection from almost any form of attack. If I had to choose who's movie is better It would be Dark Knight than Iron Man. If I had to choose who I like better It'd be Iron Man.

@Ikarosus I'm not comparing kevlar armor to Ironman's armor. I'm just saying it is armor. Kevlar is called armor. It's not called a kevlar costume. Look it up. I did not say that all superheroes are unoriginal. For example, there are other superheroes who are not billionaires, do have superpowers , Don't wear armored suits. What did I make up ? Ironman and Batman both are billionaires, have armored suits, look alike, have butlers, are philanthropists, have no powers, have weapons, and more.
Although, I would say Ironman is not a direct ripoff of Batman, you can not denying the similarities. Also, there similarities do not end at just being billionaires. They both have large companies. They both have no powers. They both build gadgets and weapons. They both have suits designed to fight crime. They both inherited wealth. They both supply tech and funds to there respective teams. They physically look the same ( Caucasian with black hair and blue eyes). And the list goes on.

@toekneebeeears That's a genre trope. Zorro, The Shadow, Green Hornet, Green Arrow (although he was a Batman rip off when he was first created), Iron Fist, the list goes on and on.

@blowshimselfupdude True, it's a trope. But, I believe that Batman was first to do it in the comic book medium. The others were in radio programs or pulp books.
toekneebeeears 2 months ago
@toekneebeeears First in comics because he was the second super hero. But that doesn't mean anything. By that logic anyone with super strength in comics is a rip off of superman. Because if we ignore Doc Savage and any mythology or epic poems and focus just on comics then anyone with super strength in comics is a rip off. Oh ya. That makes perfect sense.

originally yes batman was a ripoff of the shadow but a couple issues later he evolved into a character on his own...iron man still has the same character traits which is why people can say he's a ripoff even though he isn't...batman did evolve which makes the shadow an inspiration, yes, but not a comlete ripoff. just because the joker is inspired by the man who laughs doesnt mean he's a ripoff, obviously.

@marveldcuniverse101 But he's NOT inspired by Batman he's inspired by Howard Hughes.
He wasn't inspired by The Man Who Laughs.
