  • JMac46142, I know you mean well, but you're wasting your time with MarkDouglasC. It's not that he doesn't understand. We've tore his arguments apart countless times, but that's not why he's here. He's here to spread disinformation and to create controversy. You can debate him until hell freezes over. He'll just go to another video and start all over again with the same arguments.

  • If this passes, you will see economic growth in this country like you've never seen. You would have countries all over the world wanting to set up shop in this country, creating more jobs that could possibly be filled.

  • The FairTax will raise the standard of living for all current tax payers. The amount we each pay will DROP because MORE people will be paying the total revenue neutral amount, including illegals and criminals. Also, prices will likely drop because companies will no longer need to pay tax experts and lawyers. This "compliance cost" right now amounts to $900 per person on average. Granted, SOME? people will benefit more than others, but there will be no losers with the FairTax.

  • @JMac46142 Good point!

I am hard pressed to claim opponents of this legislation are necessarily liberals, or "dems", or what have you. This is something that should have bipartisan support!

The poor don't have to pay taxes when purchasing basic needs and Americans don't waste a portion of their hard labor for the government!

  • Yes -- our present tax code is wacko. It needs to be changed fundaentally. But this Fairtax is a FARCE. Its not kinds off -- its pure bullshit, and the leaders know it.

I read HR 25 and the book, they are NONSENSE. You can't really get income by taxing the federal government -- yet they depend on almost a trillion in year coming FROM the government, and counting that farce as income. Its total nonsense. You are being fooled.

Their whole plan is bullshit, and they know it.

  • Instead of nit-picking the small, insignificant points you keep bringing up, why don't you look at the benefits the FT will bring. How about the estimated $900 the average taxpayer will save by not having to file anything each year? How about the jobs that will be created when foreign countries start moving their manufacturing plants here to avoid foreign tax burdens? What about the potential gains from investments in the stock market that won't be taxed?

  • Why does rent bother you. First of all, any tax you pay on rent is returned, up to the amount of the poverty level, with the prebate. But, most important, rent is negotiable. If you think the rent is too high, don't live there. Actually, I'm not even sure that rent is even taxable since it is neither a product nor a service.

As far as the nursing home and cancer patients: They will pass it on to their insurance company. By the way, there is a ton of embedded tax in medicine.
