TUNNEL BORING MACHINE

and cut through rock at speeds of 15 feet per hour.

and cut through rock at speeds of greater than 150 feet per hour.

Moreover :
Its not must crush the core (just cut it out), so that its not spend energy and tool of cutterhead (money) on this
Example :
22feet (core-diameter)/50feet(tunnel-diameter)
= 44% lower of cost (include energy and tool of cutterhead)

If Its must spend 10 years in drilling a tunnel, then its just spend 1 year to complete it.
It means very low costs on the operation of the drilling a tunnel projects as a whole (include human, equipments and energy for operating them)
