@SamueltehG33k Wasn't one of the earlier PS3 models Fully backwards compatible with PS2(and PS1 if I heard right) games? I heard the model still had the PS2 guts in it.

I wouldn't mind Capcom Vs SNK 2 EO. I loved that game and that was the only one I had that wasn't BC with the XBOX 360...which SUCKS ASS. As well as DDR Ultramix.

I believe once sony takes the ps2 off the market, they will return B/C to the ps3.
Xbox BC is basis on the fact not every game can use the same Emulation layer. Each game has to have specific features added and it became double work. It isn't about patents on the xbox hardware. They already paid Nvidia and Intel money for emulation rights...

@hooflung128 what you said is true but they pay NVIDA and Intel for EACH game

@SamueltehG33k No you have a misconception of the reports of microsoft not owning the IP to the Nvidia or Intel chips. They do not have to pay emulation rights to each game. They paid Microsoft and Nvidia one time to emulate their hardware using the Xbox 360 software emulation. The same emulator is used for each game and the profiles for each game adds or subtracts what features need to be emulated. Some profiles are used on different games. They do not re-license each game.

@hooflung128 really because taht's what MN and OXM have said is the reason for delays espically for Xbox Originals on the marketplace.

True Samuel. Microsoft never got any rights to the Intel Pentium 3 or the Nvidia chip in the original Xbox. The Xbox 360 uses an ATI GPU, and an IBM triple core. The hardware is dramatically different! The same thing goes for the PS3, the hardware between last gen and this gen are so different, it just costs a lot of money for Sony and Microsoft to do any emulation or put original hardware compatible in there like the original PS3.
