This highly maneuverable airship may just convince you that LTA flight is the way to go. See hyperblimp.com for more info.

  • pretty cool stuff. what happens at extreme temperature changes (for example, when it gains or loses elevation)?

  • Good question. I adjust for ambient temp when I fill it, and the volume doesn't change much. Obviously larger ships up for longer than one hour periods will need compensation. On the other hand, with strong envelopes fairly highly pressurized, there is a fair amount of latitude.

  • Thanks for the feedback... much appreciated!

  • How come it's always the way that when you have a great idea like a solar powered airship , someone there is always someone on you tube has already done it. Fanstastic effort....but a more amazing concept. I agree..if an elementary school teacher can do this then what the hell is McDonald Douglas doing?

  • If I got a nickle for every "great idea" I've had, Bill Gates would be a finincial midget! However, in general, no one wants to listen! So all I can say is, take your best one and run with it.

It also helps to get your butt fired so you have a little time--search for Daniel Geery and National Education Association, if you'd like more specifics on this concept--most especially if you give a hoot about education.

  • what motor / prop comb are you using?

  • Skyrods explained!

  • You should make that think opaque so it can be seen better. Too bad I don't still live there so I could see that thing fly!

  • Wow a flying condom!

  • Way cool. Five stars!!!

  • Hi, I am interested in building my own blimp. May I know how you developed the envelope and where I can get the materials?

  • Gives a new meaning to stealth!

But will it keep its cohesion at a higher scale mockup? (Or is this just a mini uav, idk I'm new to your project)

Motor looks to be on a multi axis ring... Have you considered using hydrogen and more engine power? Have you considered using internal segmentation? rigid hull?

    I have many questions :p

  • this is awsome. What remote control did you use to control the airship?

  • Im convinced. And to think this without even adding wings for extra lift.Amazing.
