  • Recently, I was shocked to discover that 2nd hand clothes destroy many local economies overseas. Not just retail, but the production of fibers and the making of the cloth and clothes, as well - eliminating the livelihood of many people. Sad.

Imposing Western lifestyle and standards on other cultures is but one aspect of teh trap.

  • No, it's not merely about determinism. Just as the process of evolution has made male and female bodies different, it has made their brains different.

The freer a society is, the less equal men and women become in terms of careers; they're free to choose the type of careers that suit their nature the most.

You're never going to see gender equality in jobs such as construction working or nursing.

  • Women are the ones that can have the children, and more children per family generally promotes a poverty trap in these developing countries. They also represent a large portion of the population not working that could be.

  • WOW...Standing ovation

  • women buy clothes and stuff, you can sell them over and over again.

  • This gender issue is all about stupid traditions, once they are broken, everyone will be equal.

  • This person is right she is!

Why are only the woman the most valuable asset though? Surely men can take part in this too, I really doubt it has anything to do with genitalia.

  • After reading "Confessions Of An Economic Hitman," it's hard to be hopeful about global poverty.
