Sony Vegas 7 Editing Tutorial for Halo 3 - Effect Fading

This is a simple tutorial recommended by someone of the youtube community. It isn't that hard of a effect to understand, but I made a quick tutorial anyways.
Please recommend anything that you can't figure out on your own and I will hopefully make a video tutorial showing how.
In this video I used the black and white effect to fade into, but you can use just about any one of the effects in the list on your video. You also don't have to have it fade into a clip, you can put the effect on the first one and have the one with the effect fade into a normal clip.

1st: can u still do it with Sony Vegas?
2nd: can u make a video on how to make a faded layer over the video? idk like a Tiger face, idk i am just saying for example
