oh yeah...get headphone amps to make the metronome louder when you play...my guitarist and i used to use a four channel headphone amp so we can hear each other AND the metronome

this is by no means an insult...but a suggestion from a drummer that had to work out many problems.
you should use a metronome at slow tempo and work on no more than 2 limbs at a time....now the trick is:
anyone who listens and does this to the T, will be professionally steady within months...
anyone who does not listen to this, will get steady in years...
whether its guitar, bass, drums keys, trumpet, or singer, a DB 88 or 90 should do the trick with voice tuning and tempo control....
