I uploaded this 45 online to see if I could find any info on it. I've never found it on any CD, and I doubt it will ever be reissued. This dub is from a mint promo copy.

Its a little too gummy to be called Power Pop, but its a fun record. It almost beats the Rubinoos at their own game. It was only a mid-charting hit, though I remember KLAW and KSWO in Lawton OK giving it a few spins back in the summer of 1977.

And I've never found another 45 by this group. Were they a studio group or a real band?

And if that Scott Shannon on the label is the DJ who now runs the "True Oldies" network and has programmed so many legendary Top 40-CHR radio stations in the past - thanks for a great record.. too bad it didnt do better!

  • WO W! What a flashback!! Yes, they were real and even put out an album for Casablanca called Flamethrower. Most of it was standard AOR power rock except for this remake of the Jerry Keller top 40 hit. One of the few times the remake blew the original away. Sadly Wildfires' version wasn't as big a hit. Thanks for sharing.Lots of fun!

  • Thanks for the info! I'll be on the lookout for that LP. Casablanca had a lot of good album rock artists but besides KISS and Angel they just couldnt break them nationally.

  • very good..

  • This is great, I've been looking for this since 1977. Read aboiut it in a music paper in June '77 and heard it a few times on an AM radio station. I knew it was a remake and liked the original as well as this. Thanks for posting it and bringing back alot of good memories. Let's have summer all the time indeed!

  • I remember this one...It's like singer was channeling Carl Wilson on that vocal...

  • This is a great song! I want the album now!

  • That IS Scott Shannon, with Jack "Stack-A-Track" Grochmal on lead vocal,a truly extra gummy piece of 70s bubblegum!

  • @doglips1958 Thanks for the info...

  • @heine71 Hit the charts on June 18,1977 and made it to #49 in the US

  • never knew there was a remake out! Thanks for teaching me about this.

  • Did this make Billboard's Hot 100 chart?

  • This is one of a handful of singles that I own that I've been trying to find on cd.

I have also tried (with NO luck) to find any info on this single or the band.

I have LOVED this version since I bought it when it was first released. Thanks for posting this, I'm glad I'm not the only fan!
