Scally is a sub culture of young lads that came about in the North of England. Its all about clothes and there attitude. Scally's always wear trackies and trainers and hang around in big groups. They have a undiserved bad reputation because a big group of lads can sometimes be threatening to some people. There are mainly nice lads but ignorence based on totaly snobbery means that in general they are seen as a bad lot. Which is wrong!

Scally's are a bit more styliish in there choice of clothes, trackies & trainers.

Chav's just wear any old trackies trackies and trainers and even white socks! LOL

I'm not glorifying either group but I've been under the understanding the scally is the northern word and chav is the southern word for essentially the same stereotype

your right people confuse scallies and gangs. scallies are more liverpool tahn anyhwere else wools get called chavs. it tends to be white and asian working class lads would be called a scally or a chav if its a black person their called cool.
