Battening a ceiling is often required if the ceiling is to be clad. Tongue and groove cladding can be used or special PVC cladding that is designed for use in bathrooms. The important bit is getting the battens level and secure. Brought to you by http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/forum1/

  • Here is a YouTube video titled "How to Grease your ladder so when you're making a video for YouTube, viewers don't have to listen to a fingers-on-chalkboard squeaking sound".

    Otherwise, nice video!

  • @ultimatehandyman - great thanks!

    Thanks, I'll remember that ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman They are a great bit of kit so many uses.

In either plumb or level mode just remember to measure to the middle of the laser line as this line gets thicker the longer the distance. :)

I just got a PM from one of the guys in the forum telling me how to use the laser level to fix battens so close. He said to set the laser up about 100mm below the ceiling and then use a tape measure or similar to get the correct height. I wish I had thought of that in the first place. At least I know for next time ;-)

  • @WayneBurgess1

I can not get the laser level that close to the ceiling as the battens were only 20mm thick
