i was lucky to hear Ronnie and the Dubliners 50 years ago - truly among the greats- God rest Ronnie and Luke.

I've listened to Joan Baez and Bob Dylan sing this song and love this particular version - the way their voices sound together and the way that they capture the emotion of the song. (I didn't like Ronnie's voice when I first heard it, but got kind of used to that "truck driving over a gravel road" quality that he had.)

A Classic no matter where you here it it from. This is the the best.
-
check out the version from "30 Years A-Greying" it's phenomenal

No hate mail from here, good buddy the voice is almost gone but you may not know that Ronnie died of I believe throat cancer. He was still one of about five best folk singers of 20th century.

Let the hate pour in but this guys voice is pretty bad... I can't believe he is actually singing this to an audience. Of course people say this about Bob Dylan too, but I love Bob's voice (not now, I mean he doesn't have a voice anymore). When he was young his voice was great.

I think she finally understands that he probably won't be coming back.

anyone got these two singing "Farewell"...very appropriate at the sad loss of Ronnie
RIP. Farewell Ronnie. Thank you for all your beautiful songs
