sorry, but as far as i heard, the original river city ransom ex cartridge for gba is so rare now that you'll have to be very lucky to obtain it. i got my cartridge the day it came out (and, belive it or not, i had no idea it came out that day ;) )
anyway, Firebot (uploader) is most likely using an emulator and a RCREX rom. (the rom is illegal if you don't own the cartridge, which he probably owns.) sorry to disappoint you.

When you meet that guy with purple outfit and red elvis hair at 8:00-9:00. It says something and then you fight. You doesn't have to answer anything. And when I have fight him and turn around no boss is coming! PLEASE PM me or REPLY! I REALLY NEED HELP!

Rex (or Ted) won't join you unless you have a high rep and will fight you instead (i.e. don't use cheap moves over and over, don't hit guys while they are down, etc).

Deleted a reply by accident, but the comment was about this version having aliens and stuff. It just shows the degree of customization you can get (blue face with weird eyeballs).
