Shure uses Roswellite in the KSM 313 and KSM 353

You can blow as hard as you like and it will make a perfect arc, then return to shape. It is much faster than aluminum and won't fatigue, harden or change tone over time like "foils".

Thanks - The ribbons in ribbon microphones are unlike magnetic tape or other magnetic, ferrous materials. Instead, the property of paramagnetism is used, which is inherent in conductors.

Try phantom power on your ribbon with a TRS plug, you will destroy your foil ribbon every time. Pushing the P-power button on a preamp does nothing.That's not the usual failure mode. "Foil" ribbons fail when connecting cables. Try that at your own risk - unless you have Roswellite. Of course there are other ways a ribbon can move like in the video - such as very near, or in, a kick drum or a wind blast. "Foils" get stretched and fail, regardless of how thick they are. The response difference of Roswellite vs "foil" is undetectable. That is until you have a very high dynamic range source, then the Roswellite provides additional dynamic range over the spectrum. The transient response of Roswellite and all of the Crowley and Tripp mics is very sharp with little overshoot.

I was thinking this eve: what's Shure got to say about ribbons? That's how I rediscovered Crowley and Tripp (haven't been in the biz for a few years now) and the news that Shure's acquired you guys, Congrats!

Will Shure be using Roswellite?  I sure hope so.
