There's no shroud of mystery draped over the fact that Canon is one of the leading rulers of the point-and-shoot market. In fact, we'd go so far as to tell you that you really can't get any better than a Canon if you're looking for a sub-$400 compact. Some would argue that Panasonic is #1, and rightfully so. Panasonic produces some of the best compacts as well. However, over the years we've spent reviewing digital cameras, it has always been an ongoing consensus that Canon is usually one step ahead of the competition.

That's why it pains us to say that the Canon PowerShot SX130 IS is fatally flawed. Not by image quality, not by features, not by construction, interface, or body design. In those categories, the Canon PowerShot SX130 IS shines just like any other prized point-and-shoot we've seen to date. But our photographic adventures were frequently interrupted by battery changes. Far too frequently. In fact, we couldn't go more than a half hour without tossing in fresh AAs. A lithium ion battery might have cured this longevity issue, but it's too little too late. Sadly, the Canon PowerShot SX130 IS exhibited the worst battery life we've seen to date.

If you've got an endless supply of AA Lithium photo batteries, then read on.

  • bla bla bla, you're hot.

  • Canon Powershot SX 130 IS is a very good camera for a low price. I bought one, too! And I like it! Never mind the battery life - I carry couple of rechargable NiMh batteries with me and the camera does just fine with it! Image quality is surprisingly good for a comact class camera. I also do like the HD video function in it . I even shot a short music video with my SX 130 IS

  • How did u get expose also can u plz redo a video on how to gget all those pllz

  • I just puchased it how are u getting that screen in the beginning with all the different colors like black n white

  • I have a movie recorded from car with this camera if you want to see. Check my channel.

  • I found out by repeated tests that "Energizer"(tm) rechargeable AA batteries are light-years ahead of other brands. 2400 mhA. After charging the 2nd time battery lasted for a couple of weeks approx. equalling 1hr, maybe 2, of heavy usage. I think some rechargeables do not meet the specifications.

The non-rechargeables from Canon which came with the camera were OK, though not in the same league as fresh "Energizer" (tm) This is not an ad.

  • Thanks for the tip on the battery life .. good review!

  • I've heard all this before about the battery life of this camera. I just don't get it, I use rechargeable batteries and they work fine, no different from other cameras, don't know what all the fuss is about.

  • Your review is very good!!

I'm going to buy the camera.
