Myths of the Mormon Church: Christian or Cult?

Many critics say we are a "cult", claiming we are an evil religion who worships Joseph Smith.

Truth be told we actually worship Jesus Christ. Critics simply use the term "cult" to scare off investigators.

One key attribute of cults is that they dissolve quickly once the founder dies. The New York Times ran the headline "Thus Ends Mormonism" the day after Joseph Smith was assassinated. 163 years later, the Church continues to grow. Think of Branch Davidians, Heaven's Gate, etc. All cults, all faded into oblivion. Has "Mormonism" faded away?

a true Christian is someone who believes that Christ is our Savior and follows Him. We as members of the LDS faith believe that He is and not was, that He continues to love us, do miracles, and guide and direct His people and His church. Not everyone who professes His name is a Christian, but rather those that keep His commandments.

i have used an identical "if we are you are" argument against a baptist who was convinced mormons were cultists. i find it really sad when ignorance stands in the way of people's salvation like that..

I have actually been browsing Youtube tonight trying to look at Mormon stuff. All there is, its just slander and lies about the LDS church. I am proud to be a member of the LDS church as it teaches good morals, intergrity, love for EVERYONE (not just its members), and tells a complete account of the trueness the gospel contains. Thank you for putting up this video! It states the true facts :)

It's amazing how many people believe all the crap they hear. Anybody who ACTUALLY researches what the chruch ACTUALLY believes will find out it's an awesome church. Great people.
