  • I used some red silicone tadpole seal from McMaster Carr. They also sell high temp silicone adhesive. It is a great resource and they ship very quickly.

  • I actually do have some insulation around the flu and the chimneys. Not as much as I would like but enough. The principal is that you do not want to exhaust much. The less you exhaust, the less you have to reheat. By dumping the heat in the top and exhausting from the bottom, you force the heat down and the unit to evenly heat before exhausting anything. I fired it up Saturday night and it worked like a dream. I will post a video soon. Thanks for following and the input.

  • What's the high temp silicone you used?

  • great videos hope to see no. 7 soon. I have the same box but made mine a gas smoker about 6 years ago still works great, but I like your design better the only thing I have not quite figured out is the racks because of the post between the doors.

  • Thats looks like a great smoker. Are you gonna do a video showing it working and the products it cooks?

Also where are you gonna put the temp guage(s)?

  • looks good cant wait to see it run,to reply you hit reply on the comment you want to reply to otherwise they dont know you took time to reply to them

  • sweet...looks great but since heat rises and the exhaust vent is at the bottom affect the smoker's ability to exhaust?? also are u worried that you may lose too much heat from the chimney since it is not insulated and the smoke travels such a long way from he firebox to the smoke chamber?

just wondering mate....looks great so far tho!!

  • Great job guys!

Looking forward to seeing some smoke coming out of the exhauts on that big guy!
