During a recent trip to the Galapagos with the Center for Inquiry, Richard Dawkins gave a reading of his new preface to the paperback edition of The God Delusion along with a Q&A session that followed. The event took place in the ship's bar salon area.

  • @MatthewHudghton "why does natural selection matter or the survival of the human race matter (according to the materialistic worldview)as it is just another atomic process occurring in space." - M.H.

If you believe any of the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Judeo-Christianity, Islam) then you are like me (a Secular Humanist) in that you do not acknowledge animals as having souls, or being in the image of a god. Do any Christians, Muslims, or Jews care about pets? Why bother? Why care?

    Why not?

  • @MatthewHudghton Dawkins does not say that no interpretation of God can possibly exist. There are certain doctrines which I believe to be demonstrably false, but even Dawkins claims to be a 6.9 of 7 atheist; he knows that claiming for 100% that no supreme being initiated the universe is an irrational claim until incontrovertibly determined. However, what he will not do is acknowledge a specific interpretation of said god on little/no evidence, or worse, evidence to the contrary.

  • @woodster2k1 explain....

  • @YaMumYaNanYaGran lol, did you realize what you wrote? That is a ridiculous statement you made

  • @woodster2k1 And religion fosters non thinking and ignorance. What is better:

    1) A world full of dumb people who cant think for themselves.

    2) A world full of educated and free thinking individuals.

If you think its number 1 then there is no hope for you at all.

  • @woodster2k1 Religiously motivated wars (There are people in the American government who secretly want a nuclear holocaust because they believe Jesus will come back). Every single terrorist attack that takes place anywhere at any time. Religiously motivated rapes (Gangs of Muslim men who rape women not covered from head to toe). Arranged marriages and honor killings. The perpetuation of homophobia. The church's resistance to science which is well documented throughout all of history.

  • @YaMumYaNanYaGran give me more examples...

  • @woodster2k1 Free of superstition and myth which clouds logic and reason. The religiously motivated obstruction of stem cell research is just one of many real world examples.

  • @YaMumYaNanYaGran FREE OF WHAT? lol, it would only get worse

  • i lovvvee himmmm
