This is my favourite Chopin piece ever. i too heard this at school and it made me fall in love with Chopin. I do like this interpretation. beautifully playedx

This is very good, but for me it is far far too slow:/
And a Mazurka is a Polish folk dance:)

beautiful interpretation, i love this track, i remember the first time i heard it. I was in high school and it was a rainy day, never been able to forget it.

My dad wanted me to learn this before thanksgiving, and i was like theres NO way i can learn this that quick! but, i do have the first 2 pages almost masterd.

nice interpretation, but you use the pedal to much , the tonecolor becomes to muddy for this mazurka (imo). But hey, its good nonetheless :P

@mightyquincy109. This is a beautiful play. And you don't have to justify your interpretation. There is no better or worse interpretation. They are just different. Just because one doesn't suit for some people's preference, doesn't mean, it's any less. As a Chopin music fan, your play is just so amazing!

Very, very nice. You play with a beautiful, song-like tone, and the tempo lends a dream-like quality to the piece.

This was so flawless. I really like playing some parts a bit slower too it kinda emphasizes certain feelings throughout the piece. Keep up the good work

@spike2133876 Don't be so dogmatic. If people enjoy it then the tempo is fine. Chopin would be happy to hear this interpretation. Many composers omit tempo markings exactly because they want to hear it at various different speeds and as long as the ideas are felt, the composer is more than happy. You write as if there is some sort of correct speed. Modern performers tend to feel this way - composers definitely don't.
To the guy whose comment I just removed by accident (sorry!):
My interpretation has changed somewhat since I made this video. The tempo is a little bit faster, but still slow. I think it needs a slow tempo to bring out the sweet, flowing melody and really make it effective. I do agree that this tempo kind of leaves the piece rather disjointed and dragged out.
I'll repost soon.

Is a Mazurka mostly a polish kind of thing? I remember my grandmother playing it on the piano sometimes on the holidays when she wanted to entertain the family.

I believe so. If I'm not mistaken, it's a sort of Polish dance.

I have studied piano for about 11 years. My dad is a pianist and composer and the Steinway is his. Mine is the Yamaha that you can see in several of my other videos.
