Many people thought that when Obama became President this color polarizing would change. Let me tell you what changes America, apression and cruelty. Its sutel racsim that has remained strong through all we have been through as a nation. Racist enough not to get sued, not cruel enough for others to speak out. To own a bar is a polictical process, the minute the white bars know your moving in on there territory, thier powerful closeted white polictical friends make it difficult to get permits.

@theslabbxxx Very true, self enpowerment is key.

@AveolarD and @TheSistaWarrior ... i mean, i don't feel like blakc people need to be around 100% black people ALL THE TIME!? and that's not even really what this video is ABOUT!? it's just saying that we shouldn't have to feel like we are unwanted because we should have come further in our society than that. and to say that you don't love yourself just because you don't want to be surrounded by black people ALL THE TIME is really that same mentality this video is hoping to stop.

No doubt the Castro is not a perfect multi racial mecca we would like it to be, but it still beats the hell out of the mean treatment black gays get in the larger straight black community. White gays might ignore us, but black straights 'abhor' us.
Too prevalent is religious homophobia and the socially accepted violence that goes with it among blacks worldwide. Jamaica and religious Muslims and Christians in Africa often kill black gays.

@giacomomassop Kudos. Great point. Thats where the civil rights movement of the 60s failed. We spent too much time trying to make everything equal. The focus should have been economic empowerment and ownership. Believe me if more Blacks had community envolvment through ownership, you would definetly see less rascism. Whose gonna discriminate against the boss?

Even within gay white & black enclaves there is a spirit of elitism. Owner vs renter. Richer vs poorer. Phd vs GED. Not being pessimistic, just truthful. Not wanting to rain on anyone's parade or deride sincere efforts either. I'd just like to see more of a commitment to building our own Greenwich Village or Castro. Why separate you ask? We already are. Some of us just have gotten the email:-)

I'm all for coming together & bringing down barriers but if half as energy was spent on building your own shit instead of begging someone to recognize you, that would something to behold. The same racism that's in gen pop can be found in the gay community. Sad but true. You'd think being discriminated against & prejudged would teach us a few things but it really doesn't. Soon as we get the chance we kick the same sand in someone else's face. It's true. Even within white & black gay enclaves the

Know my responds for the video; I do recognize discrimination in some gay communities but it's not as bad as the straight communities I think the straights do it the worst!!! but at the end of the day I feel it shouldn't exist at all but it do... As a gay black man although I aware of the issues I really don't notice skin tons until it pushed in my face because at the end of the day that's all it is., is skin tones.

@blkmun86 Dude you are one of the most sickest, disgusting bigots out there.... But you should know that you're not alone there are millions of men out there just like you and they've been in your same situations; they had some form of sex with another man and they hate themselves and hate anyone that remind them of themselves are their guilty pleasures. Don't hate yourself or other if your not gay just consider it an experiment and move on? But I use to be just like you before I came out!!!
I'm not with the whole gay thing, but if that's your life...so be it. HOWEVER...KNOW this before you are gay you are black! STOP TRYING TO Fit in with crackas. They only allow you in coz u have money to spend. WHERE ARE YOUR black gay /lesbian owned businesses? Hmmm yeah...just what I thought. THERE ARE NONE. Get your own damn businesses and just like I tell anyone else who is black stop trying to be liked by whites or asians or hispanics. LOVE ya damn self! Own your OWN

black people love yourself. you are a dominant force. don't try to fit into a white bar. fit into a bar, period. Love yourself. do not allow CASTRO to mode you. do not feel like you have to be in CASTRO to be affirmed.
