Back in 1976 "Finch" singing "Hey Spunky" Or "Hey Spunky what's your name?"
Well known Sydney band from that era, they had songs like "Short Changed Again" etc. they appeared on Countdown in the 1970's and the lead singer
was Owen Orford. Band members were, Bob Spencer, guitar, he later went onto
become guitarist with Skyhooks, Mark Evans, bass guitar, who previously was
with ACDC, Grahame Kennedy, whom one of my firend's could of been an item together LOL. the other members of whom I remember but not their sirnames was the Drummer, Dale, very nice guy and the other one,
Chris who I think may have been a guitarist too (Not Sure) The band
later on in the late 70's and early 1980's went onto become "Contraband"
in which Owen, was also the lead singer. What prompted me to make this clip? Well I think "Hey Spunky" was my favourite song I distinctly remember
being a kid going to see Finch in concert. LOL, Back to what prompted me to make this tribute to Finch, well I was going through some 1970's best
of CD's and there was Owen's song with Finch, singing, "Where were you"
I thought heck grab the song and do a tribute to them. Well on Youtube
they have their songs there that is cool *S* Here is mine a raw
black and white clip of a mish mash of the guys in the band.
Looking back, Owen was pretty good looking! LOL So was that Chris guy.
It's such ashame not remembering their looks more than knowing them
LOL But when you are young all I wanted to do was going out everyweekend
getting drunk and falling over LOL Never mind the hangovers!
Life was great with the music of the 1970's Finch and all Aussie bands, what destroyed it was the random breath testing of the early 1980's LOL Looking back perhaps the song "Hey Spunky" Should of been referred back to the band members because they were not bad looking either! LOL
To cap off, it is such ashame Owen Orford never kept singing, he had a fantastic voice and we always kept saying that over the years, I am not sure the last time we heard his voice professionally, was a coca cola commercial, perhaps he still has that golden voice if he should ever sing again.
A great tribute to a Sydney Iconic band from the 70's "Finch"
