Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day
To the last syllable of recorded time,
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

  • Although it wasn't intended as a poem, this is great prose. IMO, it's a poem. Edgar Allan Poe is still my favorite poet, but i must say, these few lines in Macbeth are IMO, the best poem ever written by humankind. This poem IMO truly sums up the history of humankind. I memorized this way back in high school.

  • This was kinda weak. If you're gonna do this one loud, do it with rage and enthusiasm. If you're going for realism, just watch Gandalf do it.
