@xAntipop To stop them we have to stop buying records. Artists have nothing from it anyhow. To pay the artists you can buy concert tickets, merchandise off the official websites, send donations, finally - buying music directly: on Bandcamp, at the concerts.
@xAntipop Music industry needs huge money to bribe governments for implementing more and more oppressive laws. And they won't stop by themselves, because there is no such thing as "enough money". Period of protection will be extended, fair use will be limited, penalties and compensations will raise and so on.
@gmj2012 Oh my gods... You got it all wrong, man...
Not paying gangsters, is what is causing the mafia to beat restaurant owners, so thanks for supporting that mafia action against those of us who do pay for gangsters' "protection".
Right? Or maybe not...?
"Not buying records, is what is causing the music industry to" starve. It's like with cancer - it only grows when you feed it. To kill it you have to starve it to death.
@xAntipop MAny artists can't get known without signing with a label, some can't afford to have a lawyer look at the contract, etc. Even Peter Steele of Type O fame (RIP) got into a monster of a nightmare contract back when they didn't know any better that followed all the way to his early death. Not buying records, is what is causing the music industry to try censoring the internet, so thanks for supporting that govt. action against those of us who do pay for music.
@gmj2012 I protest to the label by not buying anything from them - didn't I just say that? The artist made a decision of selling their works to the label, devoid themselves of any control over THEIR OWN creations and practically be at the label's mercy. One of the side effects is that people boycotting the mafia-like recording industry won't buy their records. By the way - did you think that artists earn money from record sales? Surprise: h t t p : / / u . 42 . pl / 2HOm
@xAntipop It's not the artist's fault when this happens, they have no control over what the label does with their music, so punishing the artist for what the label does is kind of absurd. Better to protest to the label itself.
